WordPress speed optimization

A slow site loses twice: it loses visitors, who abandon after a few seconds of waiting, and it loses rankings on Google, which uses Core Web Vitals as a ranking factor. The good news is that WordPress slowness almost always has precise, measurable causes — which means fixable ones.

Fixotron analyses your site instruments-in-hand, finds the real bottlenecks and removes them one by one. No miracle plugins installed at random: diagnosis, intervention, measurement.

The most common causes of a slow WordPress site

In the workshop we see the same culprits again and again:

  • Heavy, uncompressed images served at the wrong sizes
  • No caching (page, browser, object) or badly configured caching
  • Too many plugins, or a few badly written ones loading code everywhere
  • Bloated "all-in-one" themes and heavy page builders (Elementor, Divi, WPBakery) full of features you never use
  • A database weighed down by years of revisions, transients and orphaned tables
  • Undersized shared hosting or outdated PHP
  • Third-party scripts (chat, tracking, fonts) blocking the rendering

Our optimization process

We start by measuring: we analyse LCP, INP and CLS with both field and lab data, and map out what is actually slowing the page down. Then we intervene in order of impact: image optimization and conversion to modern formats, caching configured at every level, database cleanup, plugin and script slimming, lazy loading and correct loading priorities.

Every intervention is measured before and after: we don't tell you "it's faster now", we show you the numbers. And if the bottleneck is your hosting, we say so plainly — with an honest estimate of what you'd gain from a WordPress migration to adequate hosting.

Measurable results, not promises

The goal is concrete: green Core Web Vitals, perceived load time under 2 seconds, PageSpeed scores you can show without embarrassment. At the end you receive a before/after report with the key metrics and the list of interventions performed.

Speed then needs to be maintained: new plugins, new content and updates can erode it over time. With a WordPress maintenance plan performance is monitored and corrected before the site slows down again.

Frequently asked questions

How much faster can a WordPress site get?

It depends on the starting point, but in typical cases (unoptimized images, no caching) load times drop by 50–80%. After the free diagnosis we give you a realistic estimate for your site.

Isn't installing a caching plugin enough?

Rarely. A badly configured caching plugin can even make things worse or break the site. Speed is the result of several coordinated interventions: images, caching, database, code and hosting.

What are Core Web Vitals?

The three metrics Google uses to measure loading experience: LCP (loading speed), INP (responsiveness) and CLS (visual stability). They are a ranking factor: if they're in the red, your site starts at a disadvantage.

Can optimization break something?

We work with backups and checks at every step, and test the site after each intervention. If an optimization conflicts with a plugin or theme, we dial it back or find an alternative: the site always stays functional.
