Compliant, worry-free
Cookie policy and GDPR consent management
The cookie banner is the knot almost no small website truly unties: many don't have one, many have one that blocks nothing, others show a wall of notices that scares visitors away. Meanwhile GDPR and data-protection authorities provide for real fines, and enforcement doesn't only target the big players.
Fixotron brings your WordPress site into compliance: we scan the cookies and trackers actually present, install proper consent management and connect it all to cookie and privacy policies that match reality. Without overdoing it: if your site doesn't track, the right solution may be having no banner at all.
Why this is a problem for most sites
The rules require non-technical cookies (statistics, marketing, profiling) to fire only after explicit consent, rejection to be as easy as acceptance, and consent to be recorded as proof. What we see every week is different:
- Banners that are purely cosmetic: trackers fire on page load anyway
- Google Analytics, Meta pixels or embedded maps with no consent at all
- Generic cookie policies copied from other sites, describing none of the actual cookies
- No consent records (in case of an inspection there is no proof)
- Invasive or unfair banners (no reject button) that expose you to fines and annoy users
What we do to make you compliant
We start with a real scan of the site: which cookies are set, by whom and when. Then we configure a consent management platform (CMP) suited to your case — lightweight, compliant with EU guidelines and with Google Consent Mode v2 if you use Analytics or advertising. Trackers are blocked before consent and activated only after an explicit yes, per category.
We complete the job by aligning cookie policy and privacy policy with what the site actually does, and recording consents as required. If a lawyer's input is needed for special cases, we're glad to work alongside your counsel: we make sure the technical side matches what the policies declare.
What if the site tracks nothing?
That's the best case, and often the cheapest: if the site only uses technical cookies, no banner is required. Many brochure sites could drop the banner entirely by replacing invasive tools with respectful alternatives (cookieless analytics, self-hosted fonts, click-to-load videos).
The site you're reading works exactly like that: zero trackers, zero banner. In the diagnosis we tell you honestly whether your site needs a banner done right, or a tracker diet that makes it unnecessary.
Keeping consent compliant over time
Compliance isn't forever: every new plugin, pixel or embed can introduce untracked cookies, and the rules evolve. With a WordPress maintenance plan the consent setup is re-checked periodically together with the rest of the site, so you stay compliant even as the site changes.
Frequently asked questions
Does my site need a cookie banner?
Only if it uses non-technical cookies: non-anonymized statistics, marketing, profiling, third-party embeds. If it only uses technical cookies, no banner is required. The initial scan tells you for certain.
What fines does a non-compliant site risk?
GDPR provides for fines up to a percentage of turnover, but for small sites the concrete risk is authority fines for missing or unfair banners, plus user complaints. Compliance costs far less than remediation.
Do you use Iubenda, Cookiebot or similar tools?
We choose the tool based on the site: commercial platforms when multilingual policies and automatic updates are needed, lightweight open-source solutions for simple sites. No lock-in: the right tool for your case.
Do you write the privacy policy?
We prepare accurate technical policies based on what the site actually does, using professional tools. For legally complex situations (health data, minors, heavy profiling) we recommend review by a lawyer, whom we gladly work with.
